Steam mover and "common" folder question!

Thread Starter
I downloaded a game today and it didn't download to the "Common folder"

I noticed this because I move all my games with steam mover to a HDD off my SSD.

Then I realized I ave all sorts of updates for games that didn't go in the common folder thus are still on my SSD.

Is it safe to just move these files into the common folder so they are on my HDD?

Also if so does it matter what I name the folder for Dark Messiah Might and Magic since the entire game is in the steam apps folder not common folder?

Thanks

I use steam mover myself and as far as I know, it only does the folders inside the common, and not the files in steamapps. So this means I have like the 8gb of tf2 files on my ssd and can't seem to do anything about it. The only think I could think of maybe working is moving the whole steamapps folder over much like steam mover does with the commons. As far as I remember, the person who made steam mover tried to allow these other files to get transferred and ran into problems.

Not to sure if I helped but lets just say I'm glad I went for the 128gb ssd over the 64... Way past 64gb on sdd now. rolleyes.gif

Ok I hear you. Thats for the updates though. In my picks you can see the entire game "Dark Messiah Might and Magic" is downloaded into steamapps folders.

Can I just make a new folder in "common folder" and copy all those files into it then use steam mover and transfer it?

Also why did steam not install it to the common folder? I have like 40 games on steam and this is the first to do something like this.

You could try copying the entire steamapps folder to storage hhd and setting up the link like steammover automatically does with the individual games. I haven't tried this but it may work.
