how do you know they weren't fakes?

Anyway: my recommendation would be something along the line's of the HFI 580's. i have them, they are $118 on BH...$190 on amazon. they use Ultrasone S-logic technology. one of the closest closed headphones that are by design get a more open sound than the rest so you can also take it outside. read the review for it or something (i wrote).

one's i don't have ...but why not. let's suggest..i didn't say recommend. i said suggest. i don't have any exp with these. just throwing them out there:
AKG 240

...i guess that's it. i put it in cause it was semi open and is popular.

They were $118, now they are $137. I ordered mine right before the price went back up. Loving them so far.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I'm gonna be demoing headphones next week on saturday, I probably won't get to try out everything you've suggested at one store, but here are all the headphones I'll be trying out:

Grado? Alessandro MS-1
AT AD-700's (still have to test them I may actually really like them)
Shure SRH440 (even though they're closed)
Fischer Audio FA-011 (I doubt I'll find somewhere I can demo these though frown.gif)
AKG 240 (don't really know anything about them except they're open and popular and... not bassy?)
Ultrasone HFI 580 / DJ1 (Apparently DJ1 is the exact same as 580 and are apparently bassy, I read your review bowness437)

I am gonna have a bit of trouble with source though as I don't have many cds of my music. Also I won't get to demo them with my particular setup (Essence STX) most likely. But it'll do. Keep suggesting its been really great so far.

EDIT: I hope they'll let me stay there for... awhile.

EDIT2: I always feel bad demoing stuff at stores because their prices are bloated and I'm taking up their time in them servicing me when I don't plan on buying anything from them.

Thanks for reading the review. i didn't mean to really suggest it per say as it was just aimed towards the other user. but the hfi 580 IS a popular headphone in this region. S-Logic also makes it a bit better than regular closed headphones for soundstage required uses.wheee.gifband.gif

and your setup althoughh not on STX sh:teaching:ould suffice,

and yes, i feel bad doing that all the time also, just going in to demo frown.gifworriedsmiley.gif

You do know you can just click the "more" link on the side of the standard editor (not full page. Actually, I don't play around with the full page editor a lot so I don't know if the emoticons are still there) and rick click the picture to either open it in a new tab or save it.
