Where to buy a battery for an "Early 2008" Macbook?

The battery in this Macbook is pretty shot and it says to "replace soon" in the top status bar thing in OS X. Where can I get an affordable battery? Not about to pay $130 at the Apple website. Any suggestions? I'm not exactly used to buying Apple products haha.

You can make a genius bar appointment and get the same battery for around $99 through the genius bar. I would be careful with a battery bought off ebay or through a battery warehouse type website. A lot of times they will take a bad battery like yours and refurbish it and it will last you half the time that one would that you would get through Apple directly. You may even be able to call Apple if you don't have a store near you and get the same battery that you would get through the genius bar sent to you directly.

Uh. I have no idea what genius bar is and I also don't have an Apple store nearby, closest one is like 1.5 hours away. And yeah I was just looking at batteries at eBay and a couple of other websites and the prices seem too good to be true. Dunno what I should do yet.

The genius bar is Apples in store technical support. You can try calling Apple Care they are the over the phone support and see what they can do for you. 1800APLCARE I think would be your best bet to order a battery through them. It is worth a shot I'm not 100% sure this will work or get you the results you would like but I would give them a ring and see what they say.

Hm I see, thanks for all of that. I doubt I'll be able to get any kind of discount through Apple but it won't hurt to call and ask. Any other ideas where I can get a battery? I'm tempted to try another website just because of the savings. $100 or $130 still seems like an awful lot to me.

Hm, nice prices and the warranty is nice too. They ship from Hong Kong though, makes me think they are fishy. The seller has a lot of positive rep though. Might buy one from there, not sure. Anyone else have a suggestion?
