Best Wireless router?

Thread Starter
I'm looking to get a new wireless router. I've noticed the ASUS RT-N56U, and it looks pretty good, also the Linksys E4200V2.

What's currently the best wireless router out there in terms of range, speed (throughput, gigabit ports etc) and durability (no connection dropping, packet loss)?

Be sure to look at the Netgear WNDR 3700, I went from a DLink DIR655 that dropped connection constantly, and this router has been amazing, I havent reset it once and its been up for almost a year and a half now, thats with now 20 devices connected to it. Also it supports opensource firmware. The range on it is great I live in an old brick house and it reaches the third floor with a full 5 bar signal, I can also walk over halfway down my street and stay connected. Dont have any expeience with the Asus model but it does have good reviews too.

The WNDR 3700 has 1 USB port, and 4 Gigabit ports, and has dual band wifi 2.4ghz n and 5ghz n, also allows a guest network

both theses are good wireless routers
ASUS RT-N56U is one of the fastest around
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/31436-asus-rt-n56u-black-diamond-dual-band-gigabit-wireless-n-router-reviewed
but cant be flashed with any open source firmware

linksys e3000 flashed with dd-wrt is pretty beastly and will give improved range.
Linksys E4200V2 is another nice router too

for a good seltion and reviews, do a search here at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com smile.gif

I haven't had to reboot my 3700 since October.

If you want to check out the newest of the WNDR line check out the N900.
