It is indeed the T type socket smile.gif

Anyone know if an AMD cpu will fit? Maybe one thats just about on par with the intel core duo 2?

You will need to get the manual and specs for your motherboard. A Pentium D may work.

TBH, an $50 1155 board with a $50 1155 processor would be much better.

was thinking the 945 will run Core2 Duo conroe chips if there is a bios update for them, its the 915 and 925 that wont

yea and not all 945 boards will support them, just the ones that updated there bios. Also the rest of yall some quick info to save some questions in the future

Intel Chipsets 800 series are all AGP

Intel 900 Series and above are all PCIe

The 915 and 925 are unabled to run Core2 at all, 945 and up can

What board is it? That may help!
As far as anything goes i'd suggest getting hold of a dual core first. Then overclock it if possible.
Save up a bit, and get a half decent card (6850 in march?) - If their prices drop.

A good one to get is a Core 2 Duo E5200, or a E6xxx series processor. These are both good value!
