i7 950 i need help getting maximum overclock

I'm currently sitting at 4gh it was unstable at 4.2 I have a good water block (kryos) I know I can get a higher clock but im not sure. What is the maximum 24/7 overclock I should be aiming for? Any help on this matter would be greatly appiciated. I mainly want to know what to aim for and how far I can push my voltages.

Sorry I don't have to many details rite now I work out of town and won't be home until next week but in the mean time I can collect knowledge on the matter..

Thanks

well, how much you can push it depends on what volts you're using now for 4ghz and what sort of load temps you're getting...

personally i'd stay roughly 1.4v on vcore, and see how far you can push the chip. i know some go as high as 1.45v, but i have no idea how fast the chip degrades at what sort of voltage, maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

i've heard kryos is a decent block, i'd say you should be able to get to 4.4, 4.5ghz without pumping too much volts through the cores. but then again, chips are all different, you might get lucky and you might not, you won't know until you've tried rolleyes.gif

what test is this? p95?

and do you remember roughly what vcore you're using right now?

And I got to 4gh with minimal voltages I put dram at 1.64 and pll on auto and I'm not sure what the cpu was at not very high i can't remember my computer is not in front of me but i would say the cpu was at 1.275 if that sounds rite it was x.x75 for sure

yeah, defo leave your dram voltage at 1.64v.

also what bclk and multi are you using to get 4ghz? 174*23? or 182*22, or 191*21, or 200*20 etc?

and depends on your mobo (and a bit of luck as well), not all mobos will run stable with bclk at 200, so, something you will have to trial and error

yeah. 1.275 vcore sounds about right for 4ghz under water. i reckon you could probably do 4.4 or 4.5 on 1.35 or 1.375 vcore. you might have to up the pll to 1.85+, and qpi/vtt a notch or two higher depends on ram speed.

The only stability test I ran was with "Intel extreme tuning utility" it worked good for me before on an 1156 build the mobo is a Asus P6T7 WS SUPERCOMPUTER
