bottom mount psu mod/question?

Thread Starter
Ok so i have an Antec DF-85 with bottom mounted PSU. I want to turn the psu so the fan is going towards the bottom of the case. my question is.... Can i do that without having to cut a hole on the bottom for more breathing room? I wouldn't have a problem with it if the holesaw wasn't $40

yeh holesaws are expensive, do you have a dremel to hand? If not the only option is to drill lots of holes to let it breather but this isn't great or recommended as it can be noisy and its harder to get air through

Try using a jigsaw with a 32 teeth per inch blade or finer, take your time and clean it up with a dremel or rotary sanding drum on a drill ! typer.gif

Please guys if you try to use a hole saw that large in a thin gauge metal as it starts going through the metal the large pitch teeth will grab the metal. It will jump out and damage the case and possibly the person using it, Also it will cut a hole larger than the bit because the pilot bit will start cutting sideways and make the hole 1/4-3/8 larger. To use a holesaw that large correctly you must use a drill press and prevent the case from moving ! PS I race motorcycles, fabricate parts for them, Hydronic heating tech, and a master plumber with 35 years exp, use a jigsaw with masking tape for outline. please be safe !mario.gif

just clamp a piece of wood on top and on the bottom of the metal and the hole saw will work great.
