7950, 7970, or wait for Kepler? - Page 2

If you just want to max those games I would say get 7970 and OC. If you want max performance possible I would wait just to see if Kepler is worth it.

Playing those games earlier would be worth it IMO.

This comes from someone who is looking forward to Kepler.

Wait for Kepler, it's not gonna be long. Also, the prices for 7950/7970 or GTX 580 are all ridiculous at the moment.

given that Nvidia says the GTX760 will be 20% faster than the GTX580 and is a midrange part id wait, nvidia might release something that can beat 7950 for 300 bucks and this will be bad news to AMD lol.

I am in the same boat as you. I would say wait till kepler IMO

I guess I can understand that. The real question is who much do you want to be on the cutting edge. Are you gona get pissed off if you don't have the absolute fastest and greatest? If no, then a 7950/7970 will be perfect for you, regardless of what Nvidia brings to the table. They really are awesome cards. If, you're a bit OCD about maxing out everything with lots of overkill, then wait and see what happens.

I more the latter. I got two 580's and I'm on a 1080p screen tongue.gif. Metro 2033 looks awesome though running buttery smooth rolleyes.gif. I also have buyer's regret on everything I buy, so... yeah.

I rarely have buyers remorse, but I have checkout(er's) hesitation. I like to be 100% I want something before I buy it and im pretty torn on this one lol. I know im probably being way too picky since almost anything from current and last tier's products would be a massive improvement over what I have.

Hmm. If I get a 7950 I can also get a new 24" LED Monitor to go with it. Double upgrade posibility...
