PSU Problem?

It appears no computer I buy comes without defects... even when I buy the parts separately.
My old computer, which my dad uses, has been shutting down randomly. When I try to reboot it, all the fans spin, lights come on, and it shuts down a few seconds later. I then need to manually turn unplug the PC, wait a few minutes, replug it then reboot.

Running:
FX-4100
Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2 Mobo
Radeon 6670
Hitachi 7,200 RPM 500GB
USB Mouse, Keyboard, Webcam, Wireless (150Mbs)
Nvidia nForce ethernet card
3 Case Fans (2 Have LED's)
2 x 4 GB DDR3 Ram

Been monitoring temps, and they don't usually go above 110 Fahrenheit or 40 Celsius.
Sometimes I get a Bios Checksum Error

I've got a 500 W PSU, which I assumed was enough to run the system. Is it failing or just inadequate? Or is it just my motherboard, again.

Tried under clocking my GPU and the computer hasn't crashed in about an hour now. Crashed again maybe 10 minutes after I increased the core/memory clock by ~50mhz each.

Wanted to check if there could be anything else causing the problem before I give newegg a call and ask for an exchange.

Cheers,
Howard

There's no label or anything. It's the PSU that came with the case. Seems like a freebie to me -_-'

Yeah. I just got a cheap one. Took the board out of that computer to put into my old one and replaced it with a generic one. It was on sale for $35
