Difference in what? In the second test, the 2500k is being run as a DUAL CORE (only 2 cores active) @ stock speeds and it still manages an average of 66 FPS with 2 GTX 560 SLI. I included the second test only as a contrast to the first.

In the first test, it runs with all cores active, and manages to push an average of 136 FPS.

I know GTX 560s in SLI aren't very close to HD 7970 Crossfire, but I just want to show that the 2500K is a GREAT gaming CPU.

No matter how many more stupid threads are created.

2500k best bang for buck end of story. Thats not say ht is not a benefit. Next go around i will get the 3570k. However the 2500k was not a let down. The difference in terms of real world terms is very small

According to the OP, money is no issue to any gamer, and games are using more threads.

So then OP, Y U NO HAVE 3960X??? ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Or better yet, multi CPU setup.

it looks like it, money is a issue with me im being forced going from the 2500k($230 from newegg) to the 2400($189.99 from NewEgg) which is same chip but i can't OC it past 4.0ghz and it's partially unlocked at a lower price frown.gif

More butthurt 2500k owners, this is getting entertaining jerry.gif

I say this from an entirely unbiased viewpoint. I could care less about 2500k vs 2600k.

Your attitude is poor. I can't quite go into further detail without treading infraction waters.

The only thing pointless is a naggy comment about the stone cold truth.
A 100mhz difference doesn't explain those Skyrim results.

I'm not sure if you're just trolling, but LGA 1156 vs LGA 1366 is pretty different and the differences in memory bandwith break the scientific method principles of keeping ceteris paribus. The comparison isn't valid. A valid comparison would be i5-750 vs. i7-860 however, provided that both were constrained to the same clockspeeds. It would be better to simply test the i7-860 or i7-920 with HT-on/off.

Also, a 100MHz difference in sub-4GHz frequencies is far more substantial than the typical 100MHz spread between 4.4GHz+ overclocks. Your last sentence suggests that overclocking doesn't really matter, which is pretty... controversial, to be kind.

Anyway, the OP and several participants have done a pretty good job trolling us.

So if BF3 uses HT that means X3930 will smoke your 2700K so i say we should recommend X79 for games as people that get the 2500K drop 1K in GPUs every 6 months.
