2500k's shouldn't be reccomended for gaming anymore - Page 15

Hi.

The results in the OP are from me and were by no means scientifically collected and it was just a simple quick test.

The opinions of the OP are not mine. Thought I'd like to make that clear.

2-3 years from now the i5-2500k is going to be considered the same thing today like Pentium is now... They're ok, and they're not bad, they're still pretty good but not even close to whats available.

That OP with AB is totally off. First, it doesn't show RAM usage at all, which if you had 4Gig, you'd get that top chart, and if you upgraded to 8gig it'd be like that bottom one. Doesn't mention ANYThing regarding overclock at all.

I play bf3 with a i5.2500k @ 4.4GHz and have yet to experience a moment where I thought my CPU was holding me back. It's just not there. At stock GHz maybe but not with this OC which was easy to achieve...

Actually, I do.

I find it funny that the game that you chose to make this point is one of the lead offenders of titles that people have had to turn off HT for due to hitching. On top of that there are other games than BF3, not everyone even plays BF3.

On a side note futreproofing is an awful plan. If HT really does become truly useful in games by that time I will have long upgraded my 2500k.

It's not worth the extra $100 for gaming unless you make tons of 10+ mins gameplay videos at 1080p The hyperthreading will make a huge difference when rendering videos.

Probably because we still have faith that member's will refrain from profanity and engage in a friendly debate regarding this matter, so far it's not looking great.

To those that have HT, including OP, kindly provide us with a few screenshots 'proving' your argument. Disregarding price and the performance boost, those that don't have HT can come up with there own conclusion, better yet provide your screenshots too. Unfortunately I don't have a 2600k at this minute, but if you require a certain benchmark, I could certainly provide that with my 2500k and SLI setup. Heaven benchmark 2.1 / 2.5, metro2033 benchamrk, lost planet benchmark etc.

Thanks
