2500k's shouldn't be reccomended for gaming anymore - Page 8

Sorry, one game won't justify it for me. Still at least 1-2 yrs of top quality gaming to be had from a 2500k, especially oc'd.

2600K and 2700K are mainly for encoding and rendering. Gaming wise they perform very similarly to 2500K.

I dont even own a 2500K. I have a 2400 and I love my CPU. I only paid 110.00 for it so im pleased. I would of loved a 2500K or 2600K but oh well. You cant just say screw recommending the 2500K and grab a 2600K. Alot of people build on a budget and prolly cant afford a 2600K over the 2500K. IMO as long as Intel period is being recommended as the main CPU source I am pleased

A friend of mine had me build him a PC & he did not want to OC at all. So I got him a 2400 for 179.99 at the egg. He is a hardcore console gamer & hated having to mess around to much with updating. Installing n such. So the same day I built his Rig he got windows 7 installed and started doing all the updates for windows and right from there he just did not like all the messing around. So to make al ong story short he told me forget this crap. turned off the PC took everything out of it. Returned everything to the Egg & sold me the 2400 for $110.00.

I told him he didnt even give it a chance so he told me that he just didnt care for all this messing with PC crap. So I win lol

Gaming cost money unfortunately dude....if u dont have $100 to spend on your gear, go find another hobby. Collect plant leaves or something.

I'm sorry, what? The mean-spiritedness of this statement boggles me. Gaming does NOT thrive on high-end hardware sales. Gaming and technology, like everything else, benefits most from an increased volume of sales. So your attitude, if shared by everyone, would single-handedly ensure the demise of that which you apparently love to throw money at.

I have both a 2600k and a 590, two things that are both horribly unnecessary. But when people ask me for a no-nonsense single monitor gaming rig I point them in the direction of a 2500k + 560Ti/6950.

Hopefully this thread will help you sleep at night since you seem to crave validation.

Haters gonna hate.
HT pwns for multitasking and gaming at the same time.
I'll never own a high rig end without it.
Windows7 was designed for it.

The graph is pointless since the 920 and 750 are on different sockets...you need to compare the i5-750 and an i7-860 at the same clock speed if you want any sort of useful information. The comparison between the 2600k and 2500k is also useless because the 2600k has a 100mhz clockspeed advantage which means you're not looking at just the advantages of hyper-threading.

Quite surprising results actually......
BATTLEFIELD 3 This was taken from a fellow member in the 7900 series club using a 2600k:

I don't think that gamer's as a whole will be willing to trow down the money for Hyperthreading, there is absolutly NOTHING wrong with an i5 2500k at the standerd 4.5Ghz and the price is stupid low.

Yea, $300 (twice the price) and what kind of FPS increese dose this allow? I call BS on the 2600k being the Gamers choice for a while.

This is truly an ignorance statement. to tell someone jsut because they dont have alot of money to go somewhere else and find another hobby is stupid. There are other options. Not everyone can afford high end this is why they have lower end great performing chips. Such as AMD offer's great chips at a lower cost & even intel has an i3-2120 even tho dual core it still rocks. for 119.99

maybe you should go collect plants or do something else cause your attitude sucks
