i7-2600k and low pc mark score.

Hi all. I have a rig which i build with an i7-2600k. Now it seems to all be fine, I have it overclocked to 4.2 ghz, temps go to 60 celsius under prime 95 and it is stable. I could probably push it higher, havent tried increasing VCore past 1.35 Volt, and I can run a stable 4.3 at 1.35 if I want to. So far so good.

My problem is, that I get a peculiar low score in PC Mark. 3581 in other words, which just surpasses an i3-2100, and is way below an i7-2600k at stock settings (which gets around 4300). Here is the details:

This seriously annoys me. I have speedstep enabled, so the cpu jumps between 16 multi and 42. I have set my RAM to 1600 mhz in bios and cpuz reckognises this, passmark 7 don't. I ran pc mark 7 alongside cpuid and cpuz. Can it be these things that drag my cpu down. Hope you can help since I didn't buy this system to get i3-2100 performance.

I don't know, I noticed that too. But I am running the free basic PC Mark 7 test, and there is basically no options for configuration. Only a big yellow "run benchmark" button. I was monitoring system performance during the test, and all cores where in use, at one time it looked as if it was doing singlethreaded testing.

Could you put up a link to download the test, and I'll have a go smile.gif

I'm not sure what info you ask for Schmuckley.

I can see from Achilees run that we have almost same results, or his slightly better which makes sense comparing 4.2 to 4.5.

But whenever there's memory involved, like system storage gaming, he is much higher. He has a SSD of course, I have a Samsung F3.

Still I might have been doing something wrong installing, but it's basically just a SATA2 connection IIRCL. I do have SATA3 but I'm not sure I plugged it into that. Because I couldn't install windows without SATA3 drivers, which I couldn't get as I hadn't installed windows. So I plugged the HDD into SATA2 and all worked fine.

you should go to "rigbuilder" in the upper right corner and post all of your hardware..be specific..voltages,ram timings.frequencies.etc..
then "my profile" and add it under "edit signature text"
