how do get a free.com domian name - Page 2

Registration sites have sales on various TLDs, but those prices are either teaser rates or bundle prices. The average cost is about $7 per year. You can then host the domain's email at Google (using Google apps for domains)...and redirect site traffic where desired, including webs.com...all at no (further) expense.

As someone else said, the tougher part is getting the name that you want. Unless it is an unusual set of words, you can pretty much give up on the .com, .org, and .net TLDs. Fortunately, there are many other TLD options...or, you can get creative with your naming.

This is one of the few times that it's good to have a little gray hair, because I was on the internet long before HTTP was the dominant protocol...and I snagged the domain for my last name long ago. You kids get off my grass! smile.gif

Starting tomorrow, GoDaddy is starting the big push for the .co TLD.

Not sure it is going to catch on, but if you are interested, it's probably better to jump now rather than after they plaster the Superbowl with adds for that TLD.

Why not just use a No-IP or DynDNS?
