M4A79T deluxe No boot?

Thread Starter
Hi there. I have an ASUS M4A79T Deluxe here and it refuses to boot. When I got the board I assumed the reason it wouldn't boot is because it has an older BIOS version, not comparable with the 955. However, I ordered a replacement BIOS chip loaded with the latest BIOS version and it still doesn't work.

I've cleared the CMOS, tried it with 1 stick of RAM, no hard drives, no sound card, even no GPU to look for signs of life. The only difference the new BIOS chip made is that the Ethernet light turns on. When powered on the board starts the fans BUT the GPU fan speeds up and slows down in a pulsing fashion confused.gif

Anyone know what's up?

Just some silly questions :-
Have you connected the EPS-8 Pin 12V connector on the Mobo ? biggrin.gif
Have you connected the PCI-E Power Cables on the Graphics card ?
And is the GFX card in the PCI-Ex16_1 slot [Blue Slot near to CPU socket] ?
Try inserting single RAM module on DDR3_DIMM_A1 slot [Black one closest to the CPU]
\

If no LUCK still, then try switching on the Mobo with only CPU + HS in it and try connecting a PC-Speaker/Buzzer on the system panel connectors and wait for any beep Tone/signs thru the connected speaker.

Yes, all power cables are connected and that's what I tried with the RAM. I'll try connecting a speaker smile.gif

Yes that's the beep [One Continuous beep followed by two short beeps ] for no memory detection. Either your memory is kaput or the problem with the Mobo's memory controller. Let's hope its not the later.

My advice : Either try some other DDR-III sticks on your Mobo or Try your RAM in some other Mobo. smile.gif

it works! With ONE stick in the slot furthest from the CPU, that's the only way it works, no idea why. It just doesn't boot otherwise :/

Its a good news that at-least it works/Boots. Try to get in to the BIOS first of all and load set up defaults, save it , exit and then get in to BIOS again & get in to the Ai-Tweaker > DRAM Frequency Control > Make sure its running at the default clock [1600 i suppose] instead of "Auto". Also set the D-RAM Voltage to the default may be 1.5V or 1.65V depending on the RAM instead of Auto. Check your RAM Specs for the info [ Voltage , Timing's etc... ].

Secondly get in to the "Advanced Tab " > Memory Configuration > DRAM Timing configuration > DRAM 1st information > See if the timings are messed up , try to set default timing's in there and even the same values on the "D-RAM 2nd" Configuration".

Thirdly see the "Drive Strength Settings" see if "DCT :0" and "DCT :1" holds the same values or not. [These values supposed to show default values by know]

Fourthly : Please Report Back smile.gif
