[Help] 6870 crossfire Or 6950 ?

Title pretty much says it all

Should I sell my 6870 and get a 6970 or get another 6870?

Problem is i am about to RMA my gpu so wont be able to sell it for a while.

I was thinking buy another 6870 while my ones being repaired then crossfire them when I get it back.

Also this is going in my sigrig so will My Cpu bottleneck the cards.

Even with the bottleneck, I'd still get another 6870. If money isn't a problem, then sure...go for the 6970 though.

From what I understand, your CPU will bottleneck on certain CPU intensive games, You should be fine on BF3. If I was you, I would get a 6950 and unlock the shaders. (It's not garuanteed to work, but I have had 2 successful tries.) Reason being, getting crossfire setup properly can be a bit of a pain and many people report micro stuttering. If you feel you need the performance, you can always Crossfire it later on. Sell your RMA'D 6870 when it gets back.

What resolution do you play at?

Here's a benchmark from my Crossfire 6950's, shader unlocked and oc'd.

700

Sell the 6870, (I sold a gtx 460 for 120 6870 ~ GTX 460) and use that money and buy a 6950 BF3 was killing my 1GB 460... a 6950 will rape BF3. But this is for you to decide all the information is out here for you now its for you to make your mind. smile.gif

It does seem better but I can barely afford a 6870 let alone a 6970
And I Don't want to put my PC out of action while I wait for the RMA to come back

If you can sell your 6870 for $140 then I would do that, despite the RMA. A pair of 6870's is going to be pretty fast now, but newer games are utilizing more VRAM than before. The 2GB of the 6950 will probably be crucial in a year or two, even if you're just running at 1080p.

But if you're planning on upgrading in a year anyway... then another 6870 would be great for now.
