I'm actually pretty pleased they offer it (and it's only $25). I mean, I really don't want to intentionally burn this chip out, I just want one that has consistently low temperatures (not a 20C spread - there's no way they can possibly claim that is normal). I just want them to give me another one that OCs like everyone else's seems to. I'm extremely jealous of everyone that can get 4.5 on stock volts when I can't seem to make mine stable at 4.5 at any voltage with abnormally high temps regardless of cooling. I'd have to use liquid nitrogen to get my stupid 3rd core below 40C and..that just doesn't make any sense at all to me unless the IHS is defective. Holy run on sentence.

Im gonna read into the oc insurance. I just bought mine a week ago and when the news released didnt look into it since I was still on amd. Mine doesnt seem to be THE BEST but I think its pretty good, hits 4.8ghz with decent volts (1.408v load), I told myself when I purchases "as long as it hits 4.5ghz I will be happy" so even if 4.8 is my max Im happy.

Ah, so jealous. The insurance seems neat enough, lasts for the duration of your warranty and gives you a one time replacement for OC damage. If something goes wrong that isn't related to OCing then it is replaced under the warranty.

How much is the new insurance? And maybe sensors are off. If it was me id go and use a infared sensor to quickly sense temps on the core in a quick boot up test (less than 10 seconds!!!!) just to see if that temp is real. Also are you applying a small 1-2 rice grains in the middle and using the heatsink? is it properly cleaned b4 with the arctic thermal paste remover/pro clean. using arctic 5? BIOS And programs show this? Also can someone enlighten me on this new intel insurance and how it works and pricing and what not and hows legible. thanks smile.gif
