What kind of games do you play?

I personally recommend the Sidewinder x4, it can be found on sale for ~$35 USD every now and then. Has adjustable LED backlighting, dedicated calculator button, 6 macro buttons (good if you play games like CS, or MMOs), and also has media control buttons. The wrist rest isn't detachable, but if you have big hands like me it acts more of a pinky knuckle rest than anything.

Don't cheap out, get a mechanical keyboard. Just take some time to save up.

Not everybody wants or needs a mechanical keyboard.

Shocking, right?

That looks like a pretty nice keyboard, I play a lot of different genres except MMORPGs and fighting/sports games. Is there really that much of an advantage to going with a mechanical keyboard? If so what's the one closest to my price range.

Yeh and alot of them are quite simply crap.

I've seen reviews online. MX Blue, on mouseup, it shifts to one side and needs to be released full! MX Red, very very light and noisy.

I had the K90 highly praised, but they red keys were annoying not least because they left finger print marks on the matte smooth finish. Backlight looked terrible, only clear around the actual mech keys. What made me send it back was the feel of the keys, the weird matte finish felt weird while typing.

I would love this old IBM mech keyboard I used at uni that was brilliant but very plain as in no g/t keys, volume control etc.

If i was to buy a keyboard it would be logitech g510, current logitech keyboard is over 5 years old and i received it by someone who didnt want it. Almost perfect.

Dont buy a keyboard without using it!

care to list which ones are "quite simply crap".

im hoping you have personal experience with the ones you consider crap and not just basing it off what you've read.

Nope read all great things about all mech keyboards.

Not many are worth the price. Either they have issues like ive listed with K90 or they issues like with the cherry blue keys also like i said above.

I'd love a mech keyboard, OK so they may not be 'crap' they're certainly not perfect and paying around £100 for a keyboard i expect near perfection.

well when you're being anal over fingerprints, i highly doubt anything would be "near perfect" for you.

also, care to link that review talking about cherry blues? ive never had that problem on my keyboard. and it's my daily driver.
Its not anal, its very annoying actually. They're very very obvious and this is because of the odd finish. Search for the razer blackwidow by productfeedback on youtube.
