Case of the dissapearing hard drive - help?

Ok, have a machine with a Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3, with 6 drives attached to it, 2 SSD 4x normal. One of the normal drives ( a year or so old 1tb WD green) seems to "disappear" from this system every so often. It's just be gone. Drive letter is not there. Even when I go to manage computer & storage, it wont be there. Then I'll shut everything down and restart, it shows back up sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. Nothing in the error log (when it shows).

Any ideas? Bad drive or bad motherboard port?
What's the best course of action to diagnose?
What additional info would be helpful?

Thanks for any help.

This sounds similar to the problem I was happening, for some reason it only happened when I played BF3 (which wasn't on said drive). Under the device manager I could scan for hardware changes and it would show back up but would later disappear. I installed some missing drivers from my mobo cd and it didn't happen after that.

Likely a good idea to update everything and see if that solves it. I thought I had all the drivers in, but who knows. Thanks for the idea +1 thumb.gif
