I have a RAID 1 (mirror image 1TB X 2) set-up in my new computer. Do I need external back-up?

With a RAID 1 config, do yunz think I still ought to have an external HD to back-up the back-up or would it be "overkill" to even consider it? doh.gif

I'm supposed to receive the new beast on Monday and I'm just thinking ahead. biggrin.gif

Plus, if'n it ain't overclocked to 4.1GHz (i7-2600k), I'll be staying up all night making it so...or better!

Heck, I saw one fella here OC'd his to 5GHz! drool.gif

Thanks, yunz are the best. thumb.gif

simply put you should back up your RAID array.. RAID is not a true back up solution, its more a redunant solution for things like business continuity I.E, if a drive fails then the data can still be accessed. you should always have another solution to keep safe your data as RAID doesnt give data integrity.. thats for starters smile.gif

Thanks. I usually over think and over buy when it comes to technology and I wasn't sure and external HD was needed.
(How do you spell necessary? : ))))

I'm guessing a 1TB or 1 1/2TB ext. back-up drive ought to do the trick.

Will search OC for best performer suggestions, but do you have a favorite?
