Crappy(ish) performance in Skyrim since 1.4 patch. (Now it's better)

To be clear the problem areas are actually a tiny bit better, as the cities now never dip below 30 fps, which before they would in a few key spots (I'm looking at you ancient whiterun tree).

I was using the SKSE launcher, which majorly increased performance, but the patch seemed have killed it and that could be a major part of my problem. However the game goes sub 60 in dungeons now and as a whole just feels more sluggish than before. Prior I got 60-150 in dungeons so this is puzzling.

I run the game on my sig rig was everything cranked to the max, what gives?

Patch 1.4 did nothing about the performance in cities for me.

before patch 1.4 I could sit at the top of the stairs in whiterun and have 29-30 FPS.
After I still have 29-30 FPS.

Also i noticed after installing the patch it auto detected the video settings, it said it set it at high quality but when i went to change some stuff everything was put on low except textures.

Hm, I sword the patch notes said pc perfomance compiling optimization, but I might have read it wrong. In any case, I don't think 30 fps is right for dungeons, right?

you should be getting it directly from here as that's where it'll be posted before anywhere else.

I get somehow worse performance from the same patch, just because it went official. With beta patch 1.4.21, I was getting smooth gameplay, and then since it went live, I get stutter all over Skyrim, the Reach especially. It doesn't make sense, to be honest. I haven't downloaded anything extra, and apparently the live patch is the same as the latest beta, so nothing should have changed.

In dungeons and stuff I get 60+ fps, only in cities do I get 29-30 FPS.
And yeah the patch notes said there were about 4 different PC optimizations included but I have experienced none.

I've been playing for the last 2 days, and I don't know what changed, but now my performance is the best it's ever been. I get 55 fps standing at dragon's reach looking at the tree and 60+ basically everywhere else. I can't explain it, maybe there was something going wrong that time before, but now the performance is through the roof.

I didn't re-install SKSE either.

Lets hope the high res pack for tomorrow is legit.

Yeah, its the opposite for me headscratch.gif

I dunno that I've seen <55fps, even in the cities, where I used to dip as low as 30 w/o TESVAL/SKSE and around 37 with it. Although I've not watched in every dungeon TBH.

In these slow dungeon areas, what's your GPU usage like CC? Is it pegged (IOW a GPU BN) or is it lower (likely a CPU BN)?

Also, are you sure it's the same dungeons as before? I mean, certain places are a lot harder to run than others. For the most part I always got steady 60 in dungeons and like 50% on each card, but there were certain random areas (like in Fort Amol, just off the top of my head) where I'd suddenly see 99% usage and drops to 30-35fps. Not sure if those spots are fixed in 1.4 cause it was relatively rare ...
