I don't know why people get so upset over people not wanting to build it themselves. Its their money, their time, their life, they can do what they want. No one is saying that its a wise choice, its the right choice for someone who has no interest in building a $2,500+ liquid cooled rig as their first try.

I understand this is OCN, but its not a place where everyone has to have built the computer themselves to get advice or help. If someone bought the computer on CL, would you be angry because he didn't put it all together himself?

Answer the questions, not judge the origin.

OcCing the 2600k, OTOH, is something I do want to find out more about and is the reason I am here.
That is WHY I purchased the 2600k CPU.
As an aside, most all of my other forum forays are treated much more politely.

Having an Alienware in your home "strokes your ego"?

Personally I would be a hell of a lot more proud to tell someone "I built this myself and got a great deal" than "I blew 3 grand on this flashy Allienware prebuilt."

Who says anyone is "angry" at this guy, no one is angry. But if your going to post in a thread like, on a forum like this, your not going to congratulate him on the "awesome deal" he got. Furthermore no one is telling him what to do, its called advice, he can take it or leave it.

Also its not hard to match the "liquid cooling," all it is in the Alienware is a modified H50 variant.

Personally the question about the virus program reminds me of my mom who is constantly asking me if she can get a virus every time she does anything on the internet.

Props to yunz with advice and answers to the easiest of questions, "BEFORE I connect to the net, what do I make sure to do?"

Puts my soul at rest knowing the proper path to follow.

I can see buying a prebuilt for the warranty, businesses do it every day, Dells warranty is nice, tbh since usually you have a replacement part in a day or two, Thats worthless if you dont have a lot of time to tinker with it tbh.

Nope, he would most likely be getting a deal. Thats Apples and Oranges.

Buying from a company that supports SOPA and PIPA is plain foolish.

I have a custom build rig and an aurora alx. Not everyone knows about computers and specs are transparent to most users. My aurora alx gets more cheers than my 650d custom built especially when they see the gills on top moves by itself lol:D I bought the alienware refurbed from their site and upgraded the RAM and graphics card. sold the old card that came with it and it came up cheaper than the custom ones. Its not like we build our computers using cheap parts right? Plus I know alot of people who doenst have time to build their own in the first place. Also, they are taking consideration of warranty such as replacement etc etc.

After "putting up" with loads of updates, I'm satisfied with the monstrosity.

Windows experience rated at 7.6, it's nice and speedy right outta the box.

I am quickly filling up the 256 GB SSD, though.

450

450

I took the good advice offered here and moved slowly and with purpose.

Just deactivated Adobe CS3 on the old 'un and installed and activated it on the new 'un.

Man, does it fly!

Thanks for the helpful advice.

Once I git my software loaded, I'ma gonna try fiddlin with it.

Later on.
