As someone who's bought two pre-built systems before I agree with everyone else, DIY is much better than pre-built. tongue.gif

Even if they give you a great warranty, these computers are built en masse and so they cut corners with things such as cable-management, and if you buy from ComputerPlanet, only put 5 standoffs on the motherboard so it ends up warped. mad.gif

Good luck with the PC, hopefully Dell won't live up to their reputation. thumb.gif

Ouch, for that much money I'm expecting more.

That was an awful buy, I like their 'water cooled' moniker. It's an H50. For that much money you could have went with a REAL cpu loop.

Horrendous cable management as well, and some weird OEM board with what likes like a mini fan on vrms? I wouldn't be surprised if your 4.6 overclock burnt your board.

Meh, this is why I will always do prebuilts. But if you like it, thats all that matters I suppose.

OTOH, I made the error of updating AMD CCC to v12.3.

I should have left it at v12.1. mad.gif

You just voided that 4 year warranty you were so proud of. No longer a valid argument =)

Other sites I was "custom building" on went way over $3000 and didn't EVEN offer the 4 year warranty.

was no longer a valid argument =)
Oh, and honestly; If you don't even know what Anti Virus you should use, should you really pay 2500+ for a PC?

I would recommend a program called PC Decrapifier for removing the bloatware (free trials, toolbars) - http://pcdecrapifier.com/
Also check out Seans optimisation guide for SSD's, as windows is already installed do the "Optimisations after system setup" and have a look at the "System Maintenance" section - http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds/0_40

I use Microsoft Security Essentials for my antivirus.

THIS, had a total of ~2500.
And even there, you could save money on buying less ram (Went with 16GB just for price comparison..), Professional instead of Ultimate etc.
..Or buy 8 GB ram with higher frequency.
