MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr 2 Fan Problem

Thread Starter
I have the MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr 2. When I start my computer one of the fans takes about 5 min to get up to speed. I think at some point it's gonna take a poop.

Is there replacement fans for these card that I don't have to mod to work or is there a way to say add a little grease to the bearings without destroying the fan itself?

Thanks for any help!

I also have a thread in the wanted section for the whole housing or fans if someone it water cooling one of these cards and is looking to sell it.

Can you not RMA the card back to MSI?

I sure can but would be down a computer for 2-3 weeks and would rather not if I don't have to.
Plus with cost of shipping and being down I would rather just buy new fans if I can or try to fix it myself if there is a way to.

Read these 2 threads and see if you can take the fan out so that you can check its label on the back for specific info of that fan.

If you have that details, I might be able to locate a replacement for you.

I have a strong suspicion that the fan you need is this (or a close model) to this Evercool 80x80x10mm fan:-

When you have the fan out and peel off the back label, try putting a few drops of lubricating oil into the central hole.  This might ease up or eliminate the problem.

I have a guy that just pm'ed me and is willing to trade my housing for his. He has 2 Twin frozr 2 570 under water.

The housing should be the same for both cards I do believe. He's willing to do it so he has the oem heatsink in case he has to rma one of his cards.
I may have to take a pic of the card apart for him to make sure they are the same and will look at the # on the fans if I do.

Thanks for your replies!!!
