some recent tennis shots from yesterday

instead of posting the few good ones i like in the rate my photo thread i thought i would share so i dont overpost sports shots since that is all i have. i think i did pretty good just need to work on timing the shots better. i will say i have re-realized just how incredible the 70-200 mkII is now that i got to shoot under better lighting conditions even though it was partly cloudy that i so much easier to work with than poor gym lighting lol. i am blown away by how sharp most of these shots are. my soccer ones were nice but i had a 1.4X extender so i lost a little quality. all these were taken in Av mode f4.0 ISO 250-500

Have you tried using Photoshop to create layers so you can fix skin tones? I think it would do your work a ton of good, especially working on that hellaciously blue court.

Sub has a good point, but I think that the first one could easily be used by your athletic department for some media stuff. Lots of potential - I can see it cropped Down just a bit, but leaving her towards the left edge with some sort of logo on the right or something. What's your arrangement with the school? I have to assume if you're shooting for them they are keeping copyrights, but are you allowed to use any for your port?

Y U NO F/2.8 200MM? So much DOF.
Not bad. I like the first one and the fifth one smile.gif I agree you could have gone for a more shallow DoF when more than one is in the frame, but shooting sports can be tough. I can't wait for the nice weather here so I can get outside!

1.4x TC, in the OP.

Didn't he mean he had the 1.4 for soccer shots but not these? I are the confusion. Well tighter framing would have been nicer. I usually shoot vertical for tennis.

i didnt use the 1.4 for these. i stopped down because it was bright and i shot in Av mode because light constantly changed for both sides of the court.

i tried shooting vertical but kept cutting off the rackets because i guess i was shooting too tight. im doing tennis again so im still going to give another shot at shooting vertical ill just shoot a little looser instead of super tight on the players like i do in basketball. after today ill most likely be more comfortable with tennis and can start shooting tighter since its been a while and i havent done much tennis. but the action is pretty easy to follow
