1) Really people use a huge variety of cards. Generally I see cards from the GTX 2xx series as good physics cards for the price right now.

2) I truly don't know the gain you'll get in Physx performance. Right now your CPU is probably handling it, but it also needs to do other things with the game as well. Also realize that the list of games that support Physx is short, and there really isn't a bunch of games out there that utilize it. Just go to wikipedia and search for Physx.

3)This will not have any effect on your performance. Most cards cannot even fill the bandwidth provided by a x8 slot. There are several benchmarks proving this. Once you get to the 580~590 performance levels they may start to flood the x8.
