Then 960T. Take your x4, subtract a few degrees C, and add the chance at being an x6. Also it's cheaper.

960T is fine. Unlocking hidden cores makes it x6. It seems Xaphan187 is price concerned. So 960T is fine.

If you are switching mobo's go ahead and go z68 and 2500k. Its not that much more expensive, especially considering the cost of a 990fx[unless you are going to micro center, they are almost giving them away], and the amount of performance gained will be much much greater.

Xaphan -
Ive had the 960t for a few months now and despite how *cheap it is, you'd love it. Use it in gaming rig with 890fx board, ati 5870; currently only playing BF3, TOR and LOL. TOR is maxxed, BF3 combo between high and ultra settings - good framerates and beautiful, and LOL not that intensive. Rare stutter in BF# on 64player maps. Since day one, had it with mild OC at 3.6 with no voltage increase; was able to game at 4.2 with noticable framerate increases; was unable to unlock 5/6 cores, but havent found a need beyond the 4 currently. I havent really wanted to run it 24/7 at a high OC, but havent really 'seen' the need with the playable framerates at 1920x1080. And, although the 5870 rocks, I imagine the newer cards would be a huge boost. Really dont think of it as settling for a 960t -- it really has been a great gaming chip. Oh, it runs cold too, and is a great power miser [TDP at 3.6 with 4 cores is 107w].

The 960T2 is the best for the money chip and has. An alot of the unlock to x6.

960T its a beast and can either be a x6 or a x4.

I'm a recent convert from a Phenom II X3 720 unlocked and overclocked. To a Phenom II X4 960T (Just got it last week) I'm with other's telling you to get it. It's an awesome CPU. I'm loving it so far. I've unlocked it to a hexacore and can run stable (Prime95 for 24hrs) at 4.2ghz. But I've clocked back to 4.0ghz just because and it is wonderful I didn't think I would notice that big a difference going from my 720 to the 960 but I can tell you that I have and it's great.
