"Best" is debatable. I like 3/8x5/8 personally, but others like 1/2x3/4. The temperature/performance difference is negligible at best.

My choice in tubing really depends on how much space I have to work in. My huge Lian li uses 1/2x3/4, while my SG05 is using 3/8x1/2.

I prefer 1/2 x 3/4, I had used 3/8 x 1/2 for a while and found it too small and restrictive for my liking.

Avoid anything smaller than 3/8" internal, other than that, go for it. 3/8" and 1/2" offer pretty similar restriction/inch and capacities. I'd guess 3/8" is probably a bit easier to route around the case than the chunky 1/2" tubing I'm using too.

I'm not a water cooling expert, but I would think that the bigger the tubes the better. The larger the tubes are, the more water you have, which means more volume. More volume means that it would take longer to heat up. At least that's what I'm thinking. The difference is so minute, though, that it's probably just negligible.

true but that can depend on what kind of pump you have. if it doesnt flow very fast a large tube would be useless.

in most chases a 3/8 ID is more then enough also i find that a lot easier to install without kinking.

if you have a huge case why not. but if you want to save money then 3/8 is great.
