Need opinions about SFF build (ITX)

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I've done quite some search here as well as throughout the web and have come to a blank. I am planning on building a Mini ITX build for gaming purposes. I was thinking:

Case: Sugo SG07 + included 600W PSU
Mobo: Zotac Z68
CPU: i5 2500k
Cooler: AXP 140*
GPU: GTX 280
SSD: Patriot Pyro 120GB
RAM: 8GB TBD

*haven't really decided on the CPU cooler, just read that people have had no problems with the AXP140 on the Zotac board.

I really have two main concerns -

1. the fit of all these components in the SG07.

Will the combination of the AXP 140 and the GTX280 on the Zotac fit? Specifically, will the GPU and CPU Cooler clash?

2. overclocking the Z68 board.

I've heard mixed reviews about this board and would like to know what people think about this board and its overclocking potential with the i5 2500k. I'm not planning to go crazy on the OC, probably to 4gHz max. In that case, would using the AXP140 in passive mode + the SG07 "Air Penetrator" fan be sufficient?

Pictures would be GREAT!

You should be able to get a Corsair H60 in that. Mount the radiator on the top grating and you should have enough clearance for the fan, radiator, and block. Should help you with the overclock.

I put a H50 in my SG05 a while back when I was doing a mini ITX build for my mom. Used the mod suggestions here:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1568525
Though I mounted a full-size fan on the front outside the grill with a filter on it.

The 60 would be even easier to mess with and the SG07 seems to be easier to mount a radiator in.

I was considering the H60. however, the radiator block seems kind of big. Also, the top fan is a intake fan, which means you'll have to flip the H60 fan to blow down won't you?

you can do whatever you want it doesn't actually matter to much if the FAN is in push or pull...Maybe get one of these for the radiator will be better than the stock fan and also cut down on space.

ALSO this would be a even better choice for a fan biggrin.gif

I kinda wanted to preserve the original SG07 "Air Penetrator" fan and use a passive heatsink (AXP 140 withouth fan or something like that). I've heard that the Air Penetrator fan works very nice at directing airflow to the CPU. my main concern is really the fit of everything. I will def consider what you guys have advised though. keeping the H60 on backburners lol. Anyone have any comments on the Zotec Z68 ITX board?

the board is a good board, ive had some time to play with overclocking and with very little tweeks i been able to get to 4.5 very easy and stable. going to try and get to closer to 5ghz next month if possible. The only down side is for some the bios is not very good, the original bios is okay at best, the newer bios is better but does not have all the features as some matx or atx boards you see

Edit: also was using a 2500k on the board, forgot to say taht tongue.gif and 4.5 on pretty much stock voltage with a corsair h50

/ edit >_>

Thanks DNYtAftr. What case are you running on? Also, what GPU are you using? I"m assuming this isn't your current build based off your specs

Tx-Jose, are you using the Zotec Z68 mobo? how much room do you have between the CPU Cooler and the 460?
