Reinstalling OS, what will I do about my games?

K guys, Im a noob when it comes to PC games. I've always been a console player lol.

I need to reinstall windows because of a few errors that need to be fixed (easiest way to fix them IMO). I have BF3 and MW3 on my PC at the moment. Obviously I want them after my reinstall. Is it as easy as putting the disk back in and installing it like I did the day I got it? Or will it say the key has already been used? Do I have to back up my games? I would really appreciate help.

Thanks in advance,
Shox.

When you reinstall the games you will be asked to log in to your accounts (steam and origin) and they will have your key stored.

The key is tied to your Steam or Origin account depending on the game. When you reinstall the OS just reinstall Steam and/or Origin then reinstall the game.

This, or in the case of steam there's another thing you could do. If you've got another hard drive, you could drag and drop your entire steam folder from your program files onto another drive. After you've reinstalled, you could either keep it like this or put it back where you tool it from.

If you decide to leave it on the other drive all you have to do is go into the steam folder, right click the steam.exe and make a short-cut, and place it wherever. When you login, it will ask you to authenticate your login (steam guard), do that and your good to go.

With MW3, you could just backup the whole "Steam" folder & copy it back to the fresh OS & then install "Steam" to the same location + if you need desktop icon's for your "Steam" game's, just right click the game in steam & "Create Desktop Icon".
I've also tryed this with "Origin" but still had to install BF3.
