Right...now before anyone starts, I am not building or buying a new PC or Motherboard...

I just want to know if there is any way yo get any kind of core 2 duo cpu to run on a 945p chipset in my Dell Dimension 9150?

Thank you smile.gif

Well....my old D945GCNL could be upgraded to a Core2duo E6700
So you MIGHT be able to, you'll need to know what board you actually have though.

I believe that there is. In the link below, it has a complete list of all the compatible processors with a Intel 945P Chipset. thumb.gif

Go to "compatible products" and then click "processors".

How do I find out?

I don't actually have the pc yet..I'm buying it cheap from a friend as I'm very low on cash...

I know that it's an Intel i945p chipset...it says It can run dual core cpu's...but I've also read on the net that the dell ones wont...but again...some say they will :/

Thats dell for ya'
I have a GX260 that "SHOULD" support a Celeron D but the Pentium 4 in it is the highest it will accept.

If is actually does go by the intel Ref. then a Core 2 Duo E6700 is the max it will accept
its the highest core 2 in a 1066fsp, everything else is a 1333fsb

anything like a E6600 or under would also work.(which there are quite a few for sale here)
