Besides I have been running this set up stable for a couple of months or so I am happy. I am just trying to stabilise 2750MHz NB though cause that will give me 16Gb/s of memory bandwidth. Anybody know a good programe to stress the memory controller for stability?
I think all stress test programs stress the memory bus, after all, thats where all the operations are transferring through. You could try intel burn test, its more comprehensive than P95 and it finishes at a certain point and tells you if it's stable. I have not used it on an AMD chip though. But i know of options in p95 to stress the memory more. And btw, over 2000Mhz on the NB is too much. If you really intend on raising the NB, be sure to watch your voltages and check temps on the mobo's chips. Safe overclocks keep the NB below 2000Mhz. I personally am not in favor of stressing my motherboard too much.

2000MHz is the stock setting. And apparently, according to a lot of people. Upping the NB gives better memory bandwidth, which I can agree with as I have seen tangible gains from as low as 9Gb/s to 16Gb/s, while its the HT bus you want to keep at 2000MHz. Most Deneb memory controllers max out at 2500MHz while most Thubans reach 2750 and golden Thubans reach 3000MHz. Imagine that memory bandwidth!Although I am perfectly stable at 2500MHz NB and that already gives me good bandwidth figures so I highly doubt I will be able to tell the difference between 2500MHz and 2750MHz.

Ah, ok. I was confusing NB with the HT. Thanks for clearing that up. thumb.gif

Yeah NB is actually for the memory controller while HT clock is obviously for the Hyper Transport bus. Honestly I found it all confusing but it's simple once you remember it! I dont know why they dont call it MC(Memory controller) clock and then obviously HT bus clock. Would make AMD users a little less confused....

The Casino push fan dropped the temps a couple degrees and switching the rad mounting spot to the dvd drive area dropped them another couple degrees. I actually forgot to shut prime 95 down last night until waking up at 6 to turn off media hub and the temps were still at 38 on core temp. I guess I should see what it'll be when putting the ratio to 21 and the freq back to 200. It should break 43 degrees or so.

Wow, the 212 evo is next on my list, but the kuhler 920 will come after that. Alot cheaper than corsair's overpriced stuff. I tell ya, Corsair can make some really great stuff sometimes, but they really overprice alot.

I do trust corsair products as I do Antec, but like you said I can find better pricing discounts and rebates on the Antec stuff and the quality is good. For instance I got my High current gamer power supply(only 400 watt but really 520) for 19.99 after a 40 buck rebate and right now at newegg they have them like half price or sum'n. I also got my 920 for 69.99 on sale @ NCIX instead of like 90 bucks. Really happy with the performance of both and that 920 really cleaned up my mobo appearance by getting that huge N520 out of the case...lol.

I'm searching (asking some of my friends) for some sort of cooler that might be better than mine. And asking anyone I don't know wont work because I can't pay anyone. This stupid rocketfish cooler is really getting on my nerves.

I have a really crappy cooler and I can't wait to get a 212 EVO. I didn't run it for long, and it peaked to 70C for only 2 seconds. Btw, I would run that p95 test again for at least 4 or 5 hours to check stability and look at temps. I find the more stressing tests to come in somewhere between 1.5 to 2 hrs. Somewhere in there the tests squeeze out the heat.
Maan, that is awesome. Kinda figured you had a watercooler. I can't wait to get rid of this heatpipe brick. It's an HDT tower cooler, but its only got 3 heat pipes and the surface area is small. (uses 90mm fans) I'm just waitin to have $30 float my way for a 212 evo. In the second quote, Alastair hit 56C after a 1 hour run @ 1.55V.

yeah, just saw the rejected part, well I'm blind

Wow you guys got some golden chips. I can't really get my 940 over 3.4Ghz without massive volts and temps or drop in stability, so have almost given up. I can get slightly higher if I overclock with the FSB, but then the PC won't wake from sleep for some reason, so I just have 17x200 now, with NB at 2.4Ghz. Agree that the NB makes a big difference, keep HT at 2000 instead and get that NB as high as possible.

3.4Ghz on this cheap is ample for this 6950 nonetheless.
