No dice, seems I'm at the heat wall with the Hyper 212+.

At stock volts these were my max stable settings (separately obviously):
NB: 2200
FSB: 244
Multi: 20.5

Seems pretty piss poor compared to yours.

Eek my bad. The values I posted were on 1.45-1.5V doh.gif

What are your temps? I'm on a A70 which is pretty much equivalent to the 212+

Why did you drop your HT 50% from the stock 2000?

Ah, that makes more sense. My temps go past 62c (i stop it there) if I bump the voltage even 1 notch. At stock volts with the OC at 4.12ghz my temps get to about 60c before failing.

Edit:
This is at stock volts:
LL
Quite toasty.

Uhm that's not stock voltage.
Stock voltage is 1.4000V not 1.488V (1.488V reports 1.5V in my BIOS)
That's why it's toasty!

Also, what cooler are you using? stock heatsink?

1.488 is bad, it's warm your ambient temp, 4Ghz good point 1.4v if raise multi without FSB.

This is what my bios says:
CPU Voltage Control [Normal] 1.4250v

Not sure why it jumps to 1.488v
At idle the HWMonitor says the volts are 1.46v

Is it unstable because of too much voltage?

Is it unstable?
4.0GHz is a good overclock for 955's. *That* amount of voltage wouldn't render it unstable.

As for the voltage jumps;
Set your CPU voltage manually to 1.4V.
I doubt you'll get 4GHz on 1.4, but you can try. Expect to require around 1.45-1.48V
Turn off Cool'n'Quiet
Turn off any and all "features" that throttle your overclock.

Once the voltage is manually set, boot up and tell us what it says.

As Accell said, the voltage will raise your temperatures. And as proved by the LN2'ers, for AMD chips (955 specifically) what renders them unstable is the heat, not the voltage. Someone pushed an AMD chip to well over 5GHz on stock voltage. Try setting your voltage to 1.45V while you overclock, and let us know how your temps are.

Btw you never told us what you're using as a heatsink : stock or aftermarket [if so, which one] ?
