of course my board is famous for its vdroop problems but I consider it a challenge smile.gif

It's not LinX stable but I played BF3 for 3 hours with it and didn't have any problems. Just gotta work out some kinks.

I've only OC'd 2 systems. Before I just copied the settings of somebody with the same hardware. Today was my first OC'ing of the current computer.

Cpu: 955 BE
Username: 4estGimp
Stepping: C3
Frequency: 3900 MHz
ref*multi: 200 x 19.5
CPU voltage: 1.425
CPU-NB: 1.1
nb frequency: 2000
NB volts: 1.1
RAM: 4096 MB DDR3 666.7 MHz 9-9-9-24 1T
Motherboard: MSI 790FX-GD70
cooling: Corsair H70
OS: Win7 64-bit

313

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1420907

A little OC testing today yielded:

3800 MHz - 200 x 19 @ 1.325 V - Passes a few mins of OCCT @ 51C. 18.75% Overclock.
3900 MHz - 200 x 19.5 @ 1.325 V - Dies
3900 MHz - 200 x 19.5 @ 1.375 V - Immediate error in OCCT - restarted teset. Dies after 5 or so mins of OCCT. 54C?
3900 MHz - 200 x 19.5 @ 1.400 V - Passed a few mins of OCCT @ 56.5C. Dies after 15-20 mins.
3900 MHz - 200 x 19.5 @ 1.450 V - Passed a few mins of OCCT @ 60C. A little too hot.
3900 MHz - 200 x 19.5 @ 1.425 V - Passed 15 mins of OCCT @ 59C. A little too hot.

4000 MHz - 200 x 20 @ 1.5V - Passed a few mins of OCCT @ 68C. Too hot for my comfort zone. Possible with water cooling.

Until a better cooling solution is implemented, the computer is running @ 3800 MHz, stock voltage and 51C. Reliability is more important to me than OC numbers.

The CPU is cooled with a Corsair H70. I hope some day to have a full WC system... Then again, that would involve getting a whole new system to get a chipset and video card which have blocks available. Currently I have no water cooling supplies at all. So to just have a 240 rad for the CPU, I'd have to drop some cash which needs to go elsewhere. Maybe I should work some more OT....

Thanks for the add and the suggestion.

what kind of fans do you have on that?? I have the corsair h50 with yate loons push/pull and my phenom hangs around 47c with prime, and its clocked at 4. the h50 has a thinner radiator and less liquid.

that h70 should be able to get that thing past 4.0 with out even breaking a sweat.

may I ask what thermal paste and how you applied it? also you have to crank the screws down to the point where you physically can't turn them anymore. just seems strange that the temps would be that high with that degree of cooling system
