nice looking card. wondering the performance review. since I cannot open the "source" link.

I hope it is better than the 7950 which said fail in cooling the card.

that fail in cooling of 7950 dc seems to me like just not screwed screw enough.
So, I saw a thread about 7950 cooling problems, I think it stated there that it doesn't apply to 7970, but just making sure.
Does this cool properly? And how about the cooling power? How good is the cooling compared to a reference (480e) plus an Accelero Extreme (80e) vs a DCII 7970 (550e)? The DCII would be better for safety too, because there's no chance of breaking the card or anything.

Which one would give me the most overclocking headroom?

Checked the link just now and it works, maybe they had a server issue. I havent been able to find any reviews on it yet.

Yeah saw that. I havent kept TOO up to date since it seems to have turned out to an asus vs msi thread but Im sure it might have been a random act, Personally I dont like how they didnt put the backplate on the 7950 like they did the 7970, as much as that thing cost they should have, my $350 gtx570 came with one.

My experience with the dc ii cooler is that it cools great, and pretty quietly. I think its because the larger fans, they are a little more quiet. It has a lower sounding hum compared to many other cards with a higher pitch whine. Its not a completly even comparisson but with the msi 560ti TF2 vs the asus gtx570 dc ii the cooler is much more quiet on the asus, although the msi wasnt horribly loud it was just higher pitched so more annoying.

This link should help describe what asus puts their TOP labeled cards through, its nice how they bin the asus TOP versions.

Okay, thanks for clarifying that. What about DCII vs DCII TOP, are there any other differences than stock clock?

Physical components are the same.

On a side note, I've had my DCII for about 2-3 weeks now and it's been great so far

A Twin Frozr III Lightning is not in the same category as this... that would be a card to compare to the next Matrix card from Asus.

How does it not compare? The Lightning is a direct competitor to DirectCU. You're not making any sense. ASUS Matrix is for nVidia cards not AMD. The last Matrix card for AMD was the 5870 and that card came with a stock leaf blower cooler, not a aftermarket one.

I quite like the Asus DCII design - mainly bcos of 4x displayport 2x DVI - in my opinion it offers very reasonable connection options on the card. If only the price would be within my budget means. For now I'll have to wait for 78xx launch and hope that one of the DCII designs will be for one of these.

Umm, because a 3 slot cards removes the ability for any add-in cards in the future. It creates problems because mobo makers designed slots for single and dual slot video cards, as to not block the installation of audio cards or whatever cards the user plans on using.

A 3-slot card design is stupid. Offers no better cooling performance than 2-slot coolers nor offers better overclocking potential. Oh, and the support of 6 monitors is completely stupid and irrelevant argument for this card. The percentage of people that use 6 monitors is close to none.

Even if I would install two of these 3 slot cards I would still have PCI-e x1 slot free which can be used for the sound card. Granted not all motherboards are like that but what I am saying is that if a motherboard manufacturer has thought the layout through properly the three slot cooler is not a problem.

The point of 3 slot cooler is to have lower noise than a two slot cooler while having still very good cooling capabilities. If 3 slot is too much then exactly the same cards can be usually found as two slot versions as well even by Asus. At least for the 6950/6970 this was the case.

I'm using altogehter 7 displays on my PC so percentage of people who use Eyefinity or just high number of displays is not quite zero. No one is putting the gun on your head to buy it if you feel that option to have 6 displays is not for you. For these of us who DO feel its essential possibility this card is good. Especially among the common 2x mini DP + DVi + HDMI crap - considering that displayport 1.2 hubs are not available on the market as far as I'm aware.

As much as I'd like to try the Direct CU II to see how it compares to Twin Frozr III, but unfortunately, because of the 3 slot cooler, it's not viable. Even with my Crosshair V, it's not possible more me to crossfire them, as I need a sound card and a wireless card as well as 2 gpus :/
