Has crossfire been fixed in Skyrim for Radeon 6000 series GPUs yet?

I haven't played Skyrim in over a month because of this issue, and was waiting on a fix for this. I can't find any info with regards to a fix or not for these model of GPUs. I hear they are releasing an official high res texture pack, and I want to be able to use my extra GPU for performance. If ATI just completely ignores such a huge issue on such a popular game, I swear to god I'll never buy ATI again.

For textures, the only real thing that helps performance is vRAM, which isn't helped with crossfire sadly. As far as the fix goes, some people say that the newer AMD Catalyst drivers help the issue by providing more support for it.

I got the 12.1 drivers, which I believe are the latest, and they don't solve the issue.

Anyway I made a thread on AMD forums:

http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=430&threadid=158632&enterthread=y

Apparently I couldn't find a single person saying anything about this issue, and I know its not just me. If there is no fix, and if anyone else is having the issue, make your voice heard on AMD forums.

You got 2 6950s, how does Skyrim run for you? Do you get more or less FPS with crossfire enabled?

Two cards work decently well with the latest beta patches. More than two cards is broke, has been since release.

I have absolutely no issues with my 6950s in crossfire. I was using the 12.1s when they were preview, and now the official ones with 11.2 or 11.3 CAP. I see they released a new 12.1 CAP, so I'll give them a go when I get home.

What are the issues you are speaking of?

I get negative performance with crossfire enabled. Its a 30% cut in FPS over running Skyrim with a single GPU. Its not the fact that I'm getting no gains, even worse, I'm getting negative gains.

Skyrim is the only game thus far I have had major issues with. When Witcher 2 first came out I had a similar problem, but instead of negative performance, I had no increase with crossfire, but they eventually fixed it and I can max that game out at consistent 60fps with all settings max and uber sampling off. Even with it on I get 30-50 fps. I should be able to easily max out Skyrim. But I can't its usually 35-50 fps with dips in the 25 range sometimes. This is with crossfire disabled. WIth it on, my FPS drops in the teens in some areas. I just now played Skyrim the first time in a month, and was thinking, why hasn't this issue been fixed yet? Its been 3 months....

I haven't tested in a while, but I have vsync enabled and my fps only drops below 60fps in big cities like Solitude where I get minimum 30-35fps and average mid 40's, other than that it's at a constant 60fps with max everything, including AA and AF with visual mods. I also believe my CPU is a large bottleneck when in cities since there's a lot of pathing and npc interaction going on, if you haven't seen the cpu benchmarks on Skyrim, it's kind of crazy how much a good CPU can help performance.

Hopefully you can compare your system performance to mine and see if it's working for you wink.gif

Mind you I'm using Catalyst 12.1, also this might be a useful thread:

I will test when I get home. I've played in CF since I started playing Skyrim, so I'm not sure what kind of performance I'll get without it. I'm subbing this thread so I won't forget! wink.gif

I'll test tomorrow morning for you too to see the difference.

Well, when I run crossfire I get solid 60s i Skyrim when I play on one monitor. When I disabled crossfire, and played again, it was still a solid 60. So, no decrease for me. Crossfire seems to be working fine for me.
