CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6600 2.4GHz FSB 1066, 4MB CPU - Good
Mother Board: Asus P5W DH-Deluxe - Good motherboard, see my general comments below.
Memory: CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
(PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - total overkill and a waste of money, esp. with an E6600. Would make more sense with an E6300/E6400, when a high FSB is more likely.
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Good
Video card: XFX GeForce 7950 GX2 520MHz Extreme 1G Dual DVI PCI E - Best single card out there. see general comments.
Hard Drive: Western Digital 320GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA II - Good, but why not two in RAID0
Power Supply: 550 Watt Thame Star Dual Fan Power Supply - unknown brand, and not enough power.

I would not get the highest end video card right now, since the DX10 cards are not far away. Also, the RAM you picked is way too much. You really don't need DDR2 1066, esp,. with the E6600. Some really good DDR2 800 (like the G.Skill HZ) will save you money, and it will likely hit DDR2 1000 speeds anyways (or at least close). Do note that DDR2 533 speeds are 1:1 with the CPU.

Here we go:

MoBo: ASUS P5W64 WS Professional Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 975X ATX $309.99
Video: ASUS EAX1900XT Radeon X1900XT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 $346.99
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 $317.99
RAM: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $299.00
HDD: 2X Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s $149.98
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Channels $121.99
PSU: ULTRA-QUIET PSU: SILENCER 750 EPS12V $199.00

Total: $1,744.94 + shipping

I believe DX10 cards are coming fairly soon (likely before Vista... I've heard rumors of November, but that could just be a rumor). However, I put in a X1900XT in there, which is more than capable for now while waiting for DX10. Don't be too impressed with that PSU. It's likely the bare bone MINIMUM you'll need to power a DX10 card, let alone 2....

The motherboard is a toss up. If you plan dual graphics, this is the best pick, although expensive. The ABIT AW9D-MAX (only one PCI slot, which will be useless when using dual graphics), and the Asus P5W DH Deluxe are close followers. If you do not run dual grafics, then the Asus P5B Deluxe is your first pick.
