You act like everyone hates metro...

I can attest to the fact that on a Phone it is more user friendly and easier to use than both iOS and Android, so before you go and start making up statistics that have no backing, please read up and stop spreading false, opinion based slander.

It basically IS a facebook mobile phone. Facebook is integrated in a large amount of the phone. It was actually VERY well done I think.

I've had the Focus since launch and I enjoy it more than any phone I've had before and I enjoy it more than iOS (I admittedly haven't had much hands on time with android). Although, I hated the fact that I couldn't customize my ringtones for so long, there still is no support for custom notification sounds (texting, emails, etc), and the Zune software/integration is horrendous and I have tons of problems with it. Once they fix those discretions, the phone will be 10x better. Part of the problem is M$ does little to no advertising (I have seen ZERO in the north east), where as I see android and iOS ads all the time.

I guess, for people like me, who's life doesn't revolve around useless apps that you don't need and primarily use it for texting and emails on the go, its the best thing since sliced bread.

3. How long did it take iOS to get copy/ paste? Years?
4. They did (Metro) but you apparently don't like it.
5. ???
I think once Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 come out you will see an increase in sales, since hopefully the have much better integration between the 2.

Nokia does indeed have two new phones coming out, but that isn't enough as marketing for them is poor. While hardware specs are great on them, few average people care about them. And no, Metro is garbage. it looks tacky, feels tacky, and it should be removable. It may work great say, on a media center, but it's not great for apps, multitasking, or getting to and from places easily. I will not use it in Windows 8 (if I even upgrade from 7) and I certainly don't want it on a phone.

-Define "better" most of the junk on high-end Android phones are novelty at best and have no practical uses.
-Copy/Paste isn't a huge issue. iOS' implementation is vastly different from Android's and it doesn't seem to have an impact on sales.
-You just contradicting your first point.
-Microsoft makes $15 for every Samsung & HTC Android phone sold, they're already profiting

-False. Not everyone who tries Metro likes it (that's about the largest exaggeration I've ever seen). I hate it. And most people don't like it either. Hence the poor sales of Windows Phone 7. If I liked it I would have bought a Windows 7 phone, but, I don't. I'd rather go back to using an old Symbian OS phone than use Windows Phone 7. And the feeling certainly isn't uncommon among the average populace.

Again, I didn't say EVERYON (you did), I said most. Which is true. Just read the comments here on OCN and other tech forums, a good majority of people don't like it. Or go sit in at a phone store for a day. Most people walk away from WP7 devices to either iOS or Android.

Agreed. Even something like "WiMo" would be better. But doesn't MS use internal code names for OS projects? IIRC, Vista was codenamed "Longhorn." I'm not saying "longhorn" is a nice substitute name, but perhaps if they used their internal codename(s) as a starting point, they'd have something.

I don't care enough to input my idea and email address on their site.

.

Your opinion != consensus, hence you have no idea what you're talking about and my statements are not any different from your hyperbolic claims. Fact is, WP7 manufacturers are not stuffing the market with crappy, low-end handsets, which are no doubt used to pad Androids sales figures. The only relevant Android phones are the Galaxy Nexus, SGS2, Droid, and a few others from leading manufacturers.

Coupled with the fact that ATT, Tmobile, Verizon, and Sprint(and all of their various sub-brands like Smalltalk, Tracphone, Virgin Mobile, Tmo Prepaid, To-Go phone, Boost, MetroPCS, etc), don't carry as many W phones and it isn't difficult to see WPs aren't selling as well especially when Android occupy several price brackets that WP7 doesn't exist in...

Heck, there's a WP update called Tango being released to address the very complaint.

Its funny how you're trying to group Android and iOS users together as if they're after the same kind of experience.

1. I think they should stay with the Metro UI. I think it gives the Windows phones a unique UI and on a phone it works great. It looks slick and responds quite fast.
2. Agreed, they need a bigger range of phones.
3. I can't judge that since I don't have a Windows phone.
4. More customisation than Android would be hard to achieve. Honestly, the metro UI already gives users an experience, differing vastly from andoid or iOS.

In the end though, I think WP7 is going to remain a niche OS. However, making the OS open-source or removing licensing fees would be a good place to start.
