Wait, so their system of giving all the DLC for free with the "limited edition" of the game might go away? That was one of the coolest things about Battlefield/EA. I enjoyed that for BC2 and MoH. I wouldn't mind paying, but it was still nice.

I dunno about you guys but I am tired of subscribing to everything I have a slight interest in... almost to the point where I would seriously consider finding something else to do.
I can't help but feel like I'm subscribing my pay cheque out a little bit at a time...not every service is worthy of a monthly re-occurring bill.

This sucks. Damn you Activision, damn you. Now every other developer and their mothers will go the route of subscription based extra content. "Oh! Subscribe for only $5/month and you'll receive all DLC!" Yea, that means we buy the game for $60, and spend another $60 through the first year the game is relevant just to get its DLC. If the game is still relevant the next year, the developer gets to milk us another $5 every month.

I'm all for DICE and any developers deserving good revenue for a good game, but this is just ridiculous greed. 11 million sales isn't enough for DICE to say "Hey, let's really deliver to our BF3 folks with good, big patches through the 2012 year. Then, we'll bring them 2143 this winter as a full-cost separate title, and because of our great efforts in BF3, we'll likely continue to get so much support from our fans." Instead, this thing is going to drive customers AWAY.

Honestly, I loved it when games would be released, then a few months later there were 10000000000000000+ mods available including new maps, skins, game modes, etc and all free.........now everything is about milking the hell out of a game by restricting modding and creativity.

Call of Duty (not the series, the game) and Call of Duty: United Offensive did an AWESOME job of this, as did counter strike/source. Everything is just going away from awesomeness like that.

DICE doesn't have a say in all of that, EA is the one wich has all the power. I often see people here blaming the developers when they are in no way responsible for all that DLC/subscription nonsense, it's the publisher wich makes that kind of decision, not the developers.

personally i don't mind subcription fees, that's why i play subscription based mmo's over free based ones like GW, subscription based typically offer better content as time goes on.

But a subscription for a FPS game? i think i'll just pass on the FPS game then, shooting the same people over and over and over and over 10,000 times on the same map every day is too boring to be worth paying for.

THIS.

People need to stop buying Activision products, because they consistently set the trend for the what industry follows. $60 PC games, blame everyone who bought mw2 on pc. This move however is blatantly more offensive. The idea that you basically should always be paying for a product is just is not a move that's not good for gamers at all.

Creating a subscription model for online games like must not become the standard.

If EA does this to BF, it needs to seriously boycotted and rejected.

Not paying a subscription fee to a non MMO game.

Just like I don't purchase any Ubisoft games.

Stupid ideas don't warrant a purchase.
