Is the Acer HN274 LCD Panels made by LG?

Looking into buying an Acer HN274Hbmiiid Black 27 on Newegg.

Heard that Acer HN274 LCD panel is made by LG? Any truth to this?

Trying to figure out if this monitor will be same type of quality LG is known for on TV's.

Edited to add:

Found out my own answer. Looks like only the LCD panel is. Sorry for posting before doing my homework. Maybe it will help someone else. tongue.gif

The interesting find here is the LCD panel type used by Acer, it is an LGD LM270WF3 (made by LG), although I’ve had some suspicions that it might be from Samsung before actually checking the Service Menu. The previous 3D-capable LCD monitor form Acer (GD245HZ/GD235HQ) used a panel made by CMO (Chi Mei Optoelectronics). Samsung is also apparently going to soon have a 27-inch model that will most likely use their own panels, so that we are going to have some choice and competition. It is interesting to note however that LG still hasn’t announced their own 27-inch 3D-capable monitor to use their own panels that Acer apparently already is using for the upcoming 27-inch HN274H.

I'm liking the reviews and that this 27 in compared to others. So what are you going with? Also, is this the older tech of the Nvidia 3d?

Here is the info I've found on the New Acer HN274H 3D Monitor Might Get You a Bit Confused
by 3D Vision Blog dating December 18th 2011.

Looks like it does have the Nvidia Vision 2 with Light Boost included. (Though it's not advertised with Nvidia 2 on Newegg).

I'm doing some homework still so the verdict isn't out. I'd like to stay with an Nvidia GPU in all honesty.

The Samsung SA950 27" doesn't have as good of 3D with their models and one can't enjoy watching 3D blu-ray movies without an AMD HD3D card on the SA950. It will do the 2D conversion to 3D with an Nvidia GPU but not true 3D blu-ray movies without another software emulator download which also sounds sketchy. It's a great multi-use monitor more than a good 3D monitor. The picture quality is really good from reviews and OCN members comments.

The SA950 does it with third party vendor software from Samsung called Tri-Def. 3D is viewed with software as opposed to driver updates on a hardware level like Nvidia. I'm open still because I do like the AMD 7970 performance but the drivers right now are not even supporting their new 7900 line as of yet. Over clocking seems to be a confusing nightmare dealing with Powertune, beta AterBurner, ASUS BIOS flash, disabling ULPS and using AMD CCC. Crossfire seems to make matters worse.

So as for larger 3D monitors it's between the Acer HN274HB vs the ASUS VG278H versions if sticking with Nvidia. The Acer seems to be the better of the two from what I've gathered. It's been a steep learning curve somewhat. I'm getting there and leaning toward HN274HB.

Just be very careful of the model number. If you do go with the ACER make sure it's the newer version with Lightboost. The first made were not Nvidia 2 compatible monitors.

The updated version of the 27-inch Acer HN274H 3D monitor with the new 3D Vision 2 and support for 3D Lightboost technology is here as apparently Acer is already releasing the monitor on some markets and I just got a review sample. The new monitor looks exactly the same as the old version on the outside, even the model name on the front is printed as HN274H…

290

Looking at the back of the display reveals more interesting facts. Instead of Acer HN274HB the model name apparently remains HN274H, but with a slight difference in the version of the model only. So instead of HN274H bmiiid as the old model, the new model is labeled HN274H Bbmiiid with a part number ET.HH4HE.B04. The fact that the model number remains as HN274H and not HN274HB and the difference is in the version number only might be a bit confusing for a lot of people and it is not impossible that somebody can get the old model instead of the new one. So be careful when looking for the new version with 3D Vision 2 and 3D Lightboost support and wait for a review of the monitor very soon.

The one being sold on Newegg is model # HN274Hbmiiid (ET.HH4HP.001) eek.gif

Here are some reviews I read about the monitor as well.

Also here is a great site that has a drop down box of many monitors in the list with info and reviews you can compare.

After all my homework I finally pulled the trigger and went with an ASUS VG278H monitor. I've had it for a few five days now and it's a great 3D monitor.

Hardware Heaven - NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 featuring the ASUS VG278H Screen - Feb 10, 2012.

Regardless of which you choose the Nvidia 2 glasses are nicer fit over my prescription glasses and Lightboost is an improvement. I consider it an upgrade from a 23" Alienware OptX for those reasons, not to mention an extra 4" viewing area. Perfect for the next 3 to 4 years. thumb.gif

Edit to add : You can use the older version Nvidia glasses at the same time with Nvidia 2 glasses on the same monitor. tongue.gif
