U sed to have 7.9 on WEI, but now I have 7.8 - Page 2

I would be worried and check something.

Yeah, the WEI is worthless. Acutally benches show more, but the wei has its uses.

Better to make sure you have trim enabled.

It has no uses past determining if you can run Aero which can even be fooled.

Are you using AHCI?
Is the drive almost full? I noticed a lower consistent WEI score when the drive was close to full.. SSD's slow down when they reach capacity from what I've experienced

also check if trim is enabled

Command prompt > fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify

DisableDeleteNotify = 1 - Windows TRIM commands are disabled
DisableDeleteNotify = 0 - Windows TRIM commands are enabled

So if you bought top end hardware that should score in 7.8-7.9 range, but scored 6.9, you would be ok and not "investigate"?

WEI scores are good for a quick and dirty benchmark. With all my tweaks to run optimally, my scores always go up not down. A drop of even .1 shows that something is not running optimally.

Wouldn't bother me. It's Windows software, and Windows is known to be buggy. Infact, I never touched/looked at WEI when I was using Windows except for the mandatory fresh install one. If you want a realistic benchmark then use a real benchmark program.

That's not entirely accurate. Among other things, it sends info to cmos about power options selected to power down drives and other components.
