Intel build for SWTOR, 800-1000$

Thread Starter
I am not familiar with gaming computers. I've never built a gaming PC before and don't play many PC games or MMORPGs. I do love Star Wars and the KOTOR series and after playing a bit of SWTOR I know two things: I must play this game more and my current PC will not handle it.

I mentioned this desire to a friend and he sent me to this site and said there were many knowledgeable and helpful people who enjoy helping noobs like me make rigs.

I would like to build a PC that can handle SWTOR at it's highest or close to it's highest graphical settings. I am not concerned with playing other PC games.

I am not sure if I want to overclock my system, ironic I know considering the site's name, but I am willing to read anything about it.

Help me overclock.net, you're my only hope.

Sincerely,
Me

CPU: Intel 2500k (OC it it's worth the 3.3GHz to +4GHz) - $179.99 at MicroCenter
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr III 6950 2GB (You can unlock this to a 6970, it's the easiest 6950 to unlock) - $299.99
MOBO: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 - $121.99
Heat Sink: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus - $29.99
PSU: Rosewill CAPSTONE 650W +80 gold - $99.99
HDD: HITACHI 500GB - $79.99
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) x 2 - $25.99 x 2= $51.98
Case: NZXT GAMMA (Or if you want another case this one is just a very good case for the price) - $39.99
DVD Drive: ASUS 24X DVD $22.99

Total: $926.9

My friend has a similar build and it can max out SWTOR and this has a way better video card

Why buy two sets when just buying a set of 8gb is faster and cheaper?

Ripjawx 8gb ddr3 1600

Anyways, here's what I would build.

Intel Core i5 2500k
ASRock Extreme3 z68 Gen3
NZXT Source 210 (You can choose either black or white, your preference)
Ripjawx 8gb ddr3 1600
EVGA 560 Ti 448 Core
Antec Neo Eco 620w Power Supply
Seagate 500GB Hard Drive
Random DVD Burner

Total comes out to 889.92 without shipping or tax.

For the 560 ti you can overclock it slightly and make it run just as fast as a 570, guaranteed. no need to give in to chance and unlock. Also the power supply has a 20 dollar MIR.

Most of the time using 2x2gb is faster then just a 4gb stick.

you cant be serious . the less DIMMS the better for clocking / especially because he can upgrade in the future if he wants. Let alone lower the timings and up the speed with a better chance .

I'm assuming you don't own the Gamma because there is cable management and the build quality is exceptional. Also, gramR gud.

Speed wise it's faster but you will get less of and OC, like 200MHz. You also get 2 open slots if you ever want 16gb or 12gb of ram. Just depends on what you want.

you don't get less of an overclock with higher stock clocks , and what are you talking about 2 open slots? you suggested he get 4 sticks that fills him up, no more room. Not making much sense.
