Need help with my Corsair H60

Thread Starter
Today I decided to upgrade from my Zalman 7900 heatsink to the Corsair H60.

Reason for upgrading is because my case has a red and black theme and the heatsink had a blue LED.

Anyway I installed the H60 with easy however my temperatures are TERRIBLE.

I am hanging between 50-60C on Ideal, after doing a little research I quickly found out you have to tinker with them?

I did exactly what the Corsair manual said, plugged the fan into the CPU_Fan header on MB then plugged the pump into (it said any) fan header on the MB.

The fan header the pump is plugged into is SYS_FAN1 header. I turned off smart fan control in the BIOS and I am still not getting great temps...

Kind of disappointed because my Zalman would idle at 32c and now I am idling at 50C? Something I am doing must be wrong?

I do have a fan controller in the case that I could plug my pump into and manually control it but I dont know what RPM its suppose to rotate at or anything?

I'm no H series expert but I'm pretty sure you want the pump to run 100% all the time so you would want the fan power to be plugged into a fan header not controlled by bios. With the H100, you simply plug the power to molex and there is a 1 wire CPU fan header, to tell your mobo that it is running so you do not get post/boot errors about your cpu fan failing.

Try that, and let me know how you do, if that pump isn't moving 100% your temps will always be bad.

UPDATE - I did what you said, the pump is running directly from the power supply. Temps are a tad bit better, not by much, Now I am hanging around the mid 40's.

I don't have any suggestions for your issue, as my H-80 is still sitting it its box unopened. Haven't even read the instructions yet. smile.gif

I do have a question though. Do you mean that the FAN on your heatsink had a blue LED? And (assuming that's the case) wouldn't it have been MUCH cheaper and less hassle to have just replaced the fan with one that has a red LED? Seeing as how the color aesthetics are the sole reason you listed for the change?

That said, I"m sure you'll be happy with your H-60 once it's working correctly for you. smile.gif
