I never looked into the phenom line, I thought those were more expensive.

you don't need a beefy GPU for autocad/rendering, rendering is a completely different ballgame than the stuff that are on gamer GPU's

games have to change frames constantly, cad/photoshop does not change frames till you tell it to.

right i think i should be fine with a nice gigabyte board and the 2600k + the 580.
http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N580GTX-Lightning-Xtreme-Edition.html Sounds like the cardI should go with?
Here's my final answer:

GIGABYTE GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 (I'm a Gigabyte guy, and you'd save $40)
i7-2600k $330
EVGA GTX-580 3GB @ $550
16GB Corsair Vengeance @ $150, but you'll need the RAM
Corsair Pro Series 750W PSU (Save $80 over the 1200w)

I'd avoid the Corsair H70, these guys could recommend solid air coolers for a lot less $$$.

The MSI cards ar a nice way to go too. Just make sure its a 3GB 580

thanks alex for brekaing it down. I think im going to go with what you suggested and everyone else which pretty much is the same like you said.

Thanks a lot.

One last thing guys, does adobe illustrator use hypterthreading? I use vectors a lot and since illustrator is still 32 bit, i planned on it running on a 64 bit machine as many do these days but I wanted to get the max performance out of it as well.

Also, what is the recommended casing i should get for this setup?
I would think so, but don't know for sure. The Adobe crew has been very up on multi-threaded apps.

I'm the wrong one to ask for cases. They just hold stuff off the floor. I went w/ a used CoolerMaster Cosmos, but just for drive space.
