Looking for Phenom II X4 960t advice. - Page 2

The 960T is a great choice! Can't be beat for the price and you have a chance to unlock to a 6 core. Samsung memory seems to be a good thing right now. Just ordered mine. Check out this link -http://www.overclock.net/t/1215422/my-samsung-ddr3-4-x-4-gb-overclocking-experience

Hi guys i thought i would use an existing thread instead of making a new one.

I also have a 960t and i am looking for a new motherboard.
The one i am currently using is http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=911&CategoryID=1&MenuID=20&LanID=0#fragment-CPU
As you can see it runs with DDR2 memory and also only has 2 memory slots where i would prefer more. The DDR2 is real expensive so i thought it would be better to get a new motherboard which takes DDR3, and then buy some memory to go with the new one.

Im not good at all at knowing which is better than others, so thought i would ask you pro's.
I'm looking to keep the price down if possible to around the 100-120$ mark for both the board and the memory, so if any of you have a little spare time and could find me a board and 8gb of ddr3 to go with it (can be 2x4gb leaving 2 empty to future upgrade to 16gb) then i would be in your debt because as i said im not great at telling the difference between all the variety.
My current board says it is mATX size of 24.4cm x 21.4cm and most the mATX ones i view say they are 24.4 x 24.4 , i dont know if this would be a problem?

Thanks in advance guys

o boi..I s'pose you need a micro-ATX AMD motherboard?This is an animal that's hard to find..Will your case fit a bigger motherboard?
Here's the best small one I could find http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186206

Yeah should be able to fit a bigger one seems to be plenty room in the case
I found plenty of micro atx amd boards here http://www.geeks.com/products_sc.asp?Cat=1220 just no idea which ones are better than others lol
If i got one of the 24cm x 24 cm ones, would the screws etc fit the same as me using my 24 x 21 one?

Thanks again for the help i'll check back smile.gif

DO you know what case you have??post a link to it if you do,pls.
See if there's empty screw holes around your motherboard :lachen.gif:
If you have a mid-tower ATX case..This board looks very good http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=M4A88TD-V-EVO-BO-R&cat=MBB
ATX boards are generally stronger and have more features than micro-atx ones
