Core i3 2100 vs FX 4100 vs A6 3670K - Page 2

What I am looking for is something like this (doesn't have FX-41xx in there),

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2011/07/01/intel-core-i3-2100-review/5

All I can find is its elder brother, FX-8150. So maybe take 40% off from its value?
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2011/10/12/amd-fx-8150-review/8

xd_1771, the benchmark you has posted are synthetic. They all show a single program stressing multiple threads. What I am looking for is different programs stressing CPU at the same time. That's multi-tasking. That's what OP is talking about. Your benchmark does not reflect OP situation.

I understand what you mean now.  You'll have to look around for such a review.  The synthetic benchmarks here can give you a good idea of the 4100's multitasking ability and you can at least conclude that with 4 actual integer cores it has better ability than an i3.

His brother is a gamer though. The i3 is a way way way better buy then an FX4100 for gaming. It's dishonest saying otherwise.

Not only that but as others have pointed out his issue has nothing to do with the CPU and in fact his current Pentium chip is also faster then the FX for gaming.

Thread Starter
Thank you very much for your expert opinion guys. I think I'll go with the first approach as what most had suggested. I'm purchasing a 2nd RAM stick to have dual channel and see if there are improvements on the system.

If that does not yield any significant improvements, I guess I'll move forward with the CPU upgrade. I'll keep you guys posted on the development.

FX 4100 for quad core, however i3 you can just drop in. Forget the APU.
