Help setting up eyefinity with 6870 and Gateway1080p monitors

Thread Starter
ok so this is the first time I'm doing this and need to know if I have everything I need to set up eyefinity. I purchased 3 LG monitors that have VGA< DVI and HDMI ports. I have an XFX 6870 card that has 2 DVI, 1 HDMI and 2 mini display ports. What cables can I use to connect all 3 monitors to the card? Will a combination of DVI cables and an HDMI cable work to achieve an eyefinity setup or do all cables have to be the same? Can I use a mini display port to HDMI converter to attach my LCD TV as well?

Thanks in advance/

One monitor will need an ACTIVE displayport to dvi adapter. Looking at what you have you will need the active adapter plus a mini dp to dp (which im sure your card came with), and 2 single link or dual link dvi cables. AMD has a good walkthrough. http://www.amd-news.com/assets/files/amd-cn/Eyefinity_SetupGuide_v1_AMD.pdf

If you have any issues that you cannot get let me know.

Good luck! thumb.gif

Monitor #1, DVI > DVI > 6870

Monitor #2, DVI > DVI > 6870

Monitor #3, DVI > DVI-MiniDP Active Adapter > 6870.

Buy 1 (one) of this DVI-Mini DisplayPort Single Link Active Adapter. Yes, you only need one.

No to both post #5 and post #6.

This post #4 will definitely work.

No such active adapter ever available.

A hit or miss.
