What do yall think of this build? <$3000.00 - Page 3

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. A couple of things to add. Thanks again for the different monitor suggestions but as I said earlier I'm 100% committed to the Samsung monitor I linked. $500 bucks may be a lot but it's 27" instead of 23" and it's still 120hz with it's own built in 3d. Not to mention it's actual looks are unbelievable imo.

Secondly I may just take yalls suggestion on the M4 and the lowering to 8 gigs of memory. Hell if I go with only 8 gigs of ram I could possible use the ram I have now, would it be compatible with the motherboard I linked..

Moving on to the MB I will never again in my lifetime buy any other brand of MB but Asus (as long as they make em I'll buy em). I got suckered into the EVGA FTW MB hype and purchased it for my current rig. Never have I had more universal problems with a PC product then I did this pos motherboard. To be honest it's the sole reason I want to upgrade. If this pos MB worked correctly I'd simply be buying new gpu's and possibly a newer cpu.

The gpu's I'm still undecided other then I know I'm going crossfire. Be it 7970's or 7950's. If the dog gone 7990 was out already that't pretty much settle it haha.

In that case 7950 in crossfire might be more affordable for you although 7950's would be awsome too.

Also why do you need more than 8GB memory?? Its a waste of money unless you are running CAD CAM software or virtualising machines. I'd use what you have and save some £ smile.gif

I have always bought ASUS motherboards too and they have all been fantastic. Never a single problem smile.gif I have the P8Z68-V GEN3 which is the same board as the one you want but with 2 less SATA ports. Make sure you buy the GEN3 revision so that you can get the most out of your new GPU's and future proof for Ivy Bridge smile.gif

Back on the SSD, I agree with Shiveron's statement. Coming from a 7200 rpm HDD, I put a SATA II SSD in my computer and am still blown away by my boot times and the load times in SWTOR.

How can I tell if it's the revision board and will the ram I currently own fit it?

It will say GEN3 on it and if your current ram is ddr3 then yes.

I changed the top white 200mm fan to 2 green 120mm fans, a green 120mm fan on my cpu cooler and I stuck a green 120mm fan in the front drive bay for extra intake cooling. I could not find a green front 200mm fan so I left it the stock white led (the green in the case turns the white light green anyway). I also put a 12" green led tube in the bottom to light the window up on the side so I can see my rigs parts biggrin.gif.

Sweet dude, I actually purchased two 12" UV lights to put in mine. I'm hoping it'll kind of make the motherboard parts glow and stuff. No clue, will know soon as I just ordered it all yesterday smile.gif

I'd go 7950CF it'll save you a few bucks and you will max anything and everything at pretty much any resolution. You'll probabally be able to Supersample 80% of the stuff you play.

Supersampling by the way is awessssome. Nothing makes a game look better imo.
