Custom Case Build

Thread Starter
Hey All,

Starting up a new project this spring and I wanted to run it by you all to get some pointers.

Alright like the title says, I'm thinking about building a custom case , this is not a mod! I mean like design it, build it, show it off custom build.

So here are my main goals so far (subject to change):

1) Quiet
2) Airflow Efficiency
3) Thermal Efficiency

Optional Goals:

1) Environmentally sound
2) Physical Size
3) Cost

My first concern is case material , I know the mainstream is Alum/steel but I was looking for material that could serve double-duty in regards to the main goals.

after that its design , I was looking at either a cube design or a tower.

layout so far below:

Looking at a two layer approach , like a cube but the top layer is removable.

If the mods allow it , I would love to make this a community project. I could use help from everybody that knows anything about physics or case modding or anything relevant.
(Sorry if it all seems ambiguous , its hard for me to put my thoughts into words.) and before anyone says anything , yes I'm a noob at the modding community but I do feel this is within my abilities.

I thought about making a custom case out of acrylic, depending on size and what you will be putting in it I was recommended to build a frame first out of something like aluminium angle. Also you could always grab an old pc case from anywhere thats not wanted anymore and gut it for parts, like pci slots and motherboard tray
