i just finished a new build, and i dont know squat about overclocking. i did some reading and found out i can get this combination to 3.8 ghz? what i have is this:
MB ASUS P5NSLI NF570 SLI 775
CPU INTEL|PD 805 2.66G 775 2x1M R
MEM 1G X 3|MUSHKIN DII667 991521 R
Geforce 7950GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
and an acer 20.1 inch flat panel monitor

that is the main info. not everything is the greatest but some are what i had b4 this build. can anyone help me with the overclocking? i am running windows xp home if that matters.

DONT OVERCLOCK THROUGH WINDOWS! For stability, and familiarizing your self with your computer overclock through the BIOS.

The PD 805 uses a 533 FSB, which is quad pumped (133x4)....with a total CPU multiplier of 20. Because your ram is DDR2 667 (166x4), you have some headroom. You dont have to mess around with memory dividers untill you get past a 166fsb.

So 20 x 133 = 2.66ghz (stock).

For baby steps, I'd suggest 20 x 140. Which would bring you to a safe 2.8ghz. At this setting, I highly doubt you would have to alter to voltage on your CPU (vcore). At around 20 x 160, I'd suggest bumping it up a quarter of a volt (+ .25). Keep in mind, you don't have to leave your multiplier at 20....you can decrease it to any value that you please....but you cannot increase it.

Make sure to keep that CPU under 60C at full load.
